The StuG III was the most widely produced German armored vehicle of World War II. Although originally developed as infantry support, by the end of the war, this assault gun had evolved into a formidable tank hunter. Its low profile allowed it to hide in low brush or terrain folds, remaining undetected until the moment it fired. The Ausf. G was the final and most advanced version in the series, incorporating all the hard-won experience of late-war tank combat.
Did you know? This model features the characteristic side skirts known as Schürzen. Many mistakenly believe they were designed to counter HEAT shells, but in fact, they were developed to protect the thin side armor from Soviet anti-tank rifles (PTRD and PTRS). These thin plates caused the heavy bullets to tumble or shatter before hitting the main hull, saving thousands of crews from fatal engine or ammunition hits.
