Morris Motors Limited is a British car manufacturing company founded in 1919. By 1926, Morris occupied 42% of the British car production. Despite the fact that in 1952 the company merged with larger manufacturers, the Morris brand was used until 1984, when the Austin Rover Group decided to concentrate on the more popular Austin brand. Until 2014, Morris Oxford cars (based on the original model of 1954-59) were produced with periodic improvements in India by Hindustan Motors. Morris is currently owned by SAIC, a Chinese automaker, and Morris's production facility in Cowley is the BMW Group plant in Oxford and the headquarters of the MINI brand.
