Many historians consider the Jagdpanther to be the finest tank destroyer of the entire war. It perfectly combined the devastating power of the 88mm Pak 43 gun (the same as on the King Tiger) with the maneuverability of the standard Panther chassis. With its low silhouette and superb sloped frontal armor, this vehicle was nearly invulnerable in long-range duels, becoming a true nightmare for Allied tank units.
Did you know? The distinct texture on the armor of this model is called "Zimmerit." The Germans spent hundreds of man-hours applying this special paste, fearing Soviet magnetic mines. However, it turned out that such mines were rarely used in combat. By late 1944, Zimmerit was abandoned to reduce weight and speed up production, making early versions with this "ribbed" armor particularly desirable for collectors.
